Richard "Dick" Nash, 63, of Moville passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Moville United Methodist Church in Moville, with the Rev. Ed Frank officiating. Burial of the ashes will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Richard L. Nash was born June 1, 1951, in Kingsley, Iowa, the son of Viola (Wiertzema) and Robert Nash. He attended Woodbury Central High School and graduated in 1969. Dick continued his education at Iowa Lakes Community College and Morningside College, where he earned a BA degree in education. After graduation, Dick joined the U.S. Army and spent two years as a military policeman while stationed in Germany.
Upon his return from the service, he taught in Homer, Neb., and Sloan, Iowa. Dick later went to work for the Continental Baking Co. in Sioux City and then for USG in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He then returned to Moville in 2001 and worked for the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Department in Sioux City.
Dick was an avid fisherman and looked forward to his yearly Canadian fishing trip with his three sons and his brother, Brad.
Dick will be lovingly remembered by his three sons, Rob and Cassandra, Russ and Melanie and Rich and Brooke; his six grandchildren, Rand, Ryann, R.C., Risa, Abe and Lanie; his mother, Viola Nash; and his brother, Brad and Viola Nash.
Dick was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and his brother, Randy.
