Richard “Dick” T. Stevens, 82, of Sioux City died Monday, October 28, 2024, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 4 at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, with the Rev. Kevin Kirwan officiating. Burial will be in St. Thomas Orthodox Cemetery of Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family present on Sunday, November 3rd at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel. A Trisagion service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy Smith Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.
Dick was born December 2, 1941, in Sioux City, the son of Thomas and Miriam (Abdouch) Stevens. He grew up in Sioux City where he attended Longfellow Grade School, East Junior, and graduated from East High School. After high school, Dick attended Wayne State College for one year. He worked for Iowa Leather Company, and later owned and operated Younkers Shoe Repair and the Cobblers Bench Shoe Repair shop in Sioux City before retiring. He was a member of St. Thomas Orthodox Church. He was a former member of Whispering Creek Golf Course, Morningside Country Club, and the Sioux City Boat Club. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers, when they were not playing the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of Sioux City; three sons, Rick Stevens and his wife Shannon Clutter of Cheyenne, WY, Robert Stevens and his wife Dusti of Lincoln, NE, and Troy Martin and his wife Donna of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Alyssa Hermann, Jase Stevens, Natalie Willers, Emily Martin and Jake Milana; two great-grandchildren, Aurelia and Lierin; sisters-in-law, Judy Stevens of Lawton and Lynn Haugen of Sioux City; brother in-law, Richard “Bud” Wedge and his wife Yoshiko of San Diego, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Phil; nephew, Jason; grandson, Joshua Milana; granddaughter, Caitlin Martin
A memorial will be established in his name.
