Richard Wakeman, 62, of North Sioux City, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, in Milan, Mo.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Akron, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Richard was born on Feb. 8, 1952, in Akron, Iowa, to Janet Allan Wakeman. He was baptized on June 22, 1952. He graduated from West Sioux in Hawarden, Iowa, in 1971.
Rick was united in marriage to Michele Meisch on July 27, 1996, at American Lutheran Church in Hawarden. He attended Western Iowa Tech and worked at Container Corporation for two years. In 1973, he began his career as an over-the-road truck driver. He had been working as a truck driver for 41 years.
Rick loved to garden, fish and hunt. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Michele and their five children, Missy Graves and wife, Klesha, Robin Sindt and husband, Al, Nick Stowe, Molly McNear, and Marianne Crippen and wife, Missy; 10 grandchildren, Mandy, Ryan, Ashley, Chad, Taylor, Caitlynn, Tyler, Lucas, Emily and Rylee; three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Leeanna and Allisyn; his mother, Janet; four brothers, Roger and wife, Pam, Jerry and wife, Sharon, Bruce Wakeman, and Loren and wife, Theresa; and many loving nieces.
He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and one uncle.
