Richard L Wilcox age 82, of Sioux City died Friday January 19, 2018 at a local care facility.
Funeral services will be held at NOON on Thursday January 25, 2018 at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel with Pastor Jim Wilson officiating. Private burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 10:00am until service time on Thursday at the chapel.
Richard was born in Sioux City, Iowa on April 19, 1935, the son of Lawrence and Lucille (Woolworth) Wilcox. He attended Sioux City Community Schools and Central High School with the class of 1954. Following his graduation, he entered the United States Army where he served during the Korean War.
He was united in marriage with Sharon Arioso on May 29, 1958 in Sioux City, and to this union four children were born. Richard worked at Swift and Company for thirty two years retiring as a supervisor. He also worked for many years as a self employed contractor.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He really enjoyed his long phone conversations with Don.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Sharon, his children; Rodney Wilcox of Sioux City, Ronald Wilcox and his wife Laura of Sioux City, Randy Wilcox of Sioux City and Shelly Wilcox of Sioux City. He is also survived by his two grandchildren: Amber and Adam, and his two great-grandchildren, along with his brother David Wilcox and sisters Karen Howard, Sherry Nash, Becky Wilcox, and Julie Nelson.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Donald and Douglas, and a sister Ann Hagestrom.
