Robert P. "Bob" Samuelson, 85, of Sioux City died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles Wolff of Riverside Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christy-Smith Larkin Northside Chapel.
Mr. Samuelson was born March 23, 1922, in Platte, S.D., the son of Robert J. and Theresa (Haley) Samuelson. He moved with his family to Sioux City as a small boy. He graduated from Central High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married Jean E. McMullen on June 26, 1946, in Sioux City. He was employed for Chris Hansen Construction Co. for more than 40 years. He retired as a construction supervisor in 1987.
He was a member of the Carpenter's Union. He enjoyed working with wood and always had some project going on around the house.
He is survived by his wife, Jean E. of Sioux City; a son, Bruce Samuelson of Wynstone, S.D.; a daughter and her husband, Lynn and Joseph Matson of Clive, Iowa; two granddaughters and their husbands, Lisa and Michael Hansen of Las Vegas, Nev., and Nicole and David Struchen of Jewell, Iowa; and a great-granddaughter, Gabbi Struchen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, LaNae Fletcher.
