Robert Earl "Bob" Bowers, the son of William and Alta (Katasabek) Bowers, was born on Oct. 13, 1928, in Bronson, Iowa. He attended school in Sioux City.
On June 1, 1951, Bob was united in marriage with Betty Moore. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage and had four children. Bob was employed at various packing plants, the last one being Flavorland until the plant closed in 1988. He then worked for Mercy Medical Center for 10 years as a floor technician until his retirement in 1998.
Bob loved working in his yard when he owned his home. When not outside, he enjoyed watching football and golf. Bob was an avid Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. In fact, he had an old Chicago Bears cap that he was rarely seen without. In his younger years, Bob loved to ride his motorcycle.
Bob and Betty were members of Grace United Methodist Church for 58 years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Betty of Sioux City; three children, Kathi (John) Sparks of Minneapolis, Ken "Dusty" (Yvonne) Bowers of Houston, Texas, and Kris (Brian) Dam of Sioux City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Richard; and four brothers, Larry Dunning, Elmer Dunning, Clifford Dunning, and William Bowers.
