SIOUX CITY -- Robert C. "Bob" Church, 56, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kevin Lee of Morningside Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Bob was born Oct. 1, 1953, in Sioux City, to Cecil and Mary (Sanford) Church. He grew up and attended South Sioux City High School, graduating in 1971. He later attended Wayne State College, then gem college in Texas through Thorp Jewelry.
He married Susie Evans on Dec. 30, 1983, in Burbank, S.D. They resided in the Siouxland area. He was employed with Thorp and Company Jewelers and Brodkey Jewelers. He was a restaurant manager and worked at the Friendship House. He spent a lot of time and enjoyed volunteering.
He enjoyed playing pool, learning about gems in school, watching old movies, spending time with family and friends, his cats, road trips and music trivia.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Evans-Church; two sons, Corey Church of Sioux City and Rob Church-Chamberlain of Benkelman, Neb.; his father, Cecil and Betty Church of Sioux City; a sister, Julie Griffin of Sioux City; sister-in-law, Jeri Dillavou of Sioux City; brother-in-law, Mike and Diane Evans of McCook Lake, S.D.; father-in-law, Robert D. and Darlene Evans of Storm Lake, Iowa; stepfather, Don Perley; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; a brother, Timothy; a sister, Penny Sue; mother-in-law, Ruth Perley; and a sister-in-law, Sandi Evans.
