Robert "Bob" K. Davis, 88, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at his home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 4327 Morningside Ave. (Morningside Presbyterian), with the Rev. David Koehler officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave. Online condolences may be made to the family at

Bob was born in the Philippine Islands, on April 14, 1928, the son of missionary teachers. He grew up in Newman Grove, Neb. He attended Wayne State College. His education was interrupted when he volunteered in December 1951 to serve in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in December 1954.
Returning to Wayne State College, he found the love of his life, Carlene Willer. They married on Aug. 21, 1955. To this union four children were born, Carla, Christi, Jeff and Linda. He taught in Danbury, Iowa from 1955 to 1960. During the summers, Bob continued his education earning a master degree from the University of Wyoming. The family then moved to Sioux City, where he taught driver's education at Central and at the other three public high schools in the Sioux City School District, retiring in 1992. He taught AARP 55 Alive classes with Carlene for 20 years. Bob was the state coordinator of the AARP Drivers Safety Program for 10 years.
Bob was a lifelong member of Morningside Presbyterian Church. He served on the board of trustees, sessions and was a member of the church Men's Club. He was a past member of the Danbury Masonic Lodge and the Morningside Masonic Lodge 615 AF & AM. He was a life member of the National Education Association, and past member and officer of the Iowa Drivers Education Association. Bob also served as a merit badge counselor for Boy Scout Troop 208. He loved camping, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife and soulmate of 61 years, Carlene; four children, Carla (Brad) Maslonka, Christi Grabowski, Jeff (Ronda) Davis and Linda Amman; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
