Robert "Bob" Deal, 72, of Onawa, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Robert Thomas Deal was born on Sept. 10, 1942, in Sioux City, the son of Lawrence and Mary "Ellen" (Tighe) Deal. He attended school and graduated from Walthill High School in Walthill, Neb. He continued his education at Nettleton Business College and received a degree in business.
Bob married Ina J. Houchins on Sept. 21, 1973. They were later divorced. Over the years, Bob had worked as a dorm manager for Goodwill, residential support for the Group Home in Wayne, Neb. He was with Woodbury County Care, Mid-Step Services and a Med Aid and Support Staff for North Star Services.
He was a past member of United Methodist Church of Dakota City. Bob was a Husker fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and going fishing.
He is survived by his son, Brian Deal of Canton, Conn.; a daughter, Heather Miller and her partner, Kenny Myers of Turin, Iowa; six grandchildren; and three brothers, John Deal and Chuck Deal of Omaha, and Joe Deal of South Sioux City.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; and a brother.
