Robert "Bob" L. Hansen, 79, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Bob was born on Nov. 13, 1935, in Lathem, Mo., to Fred and Hazel (Powell) Hansen. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School.
He was united in marriage to Doris Porter on Jan. 23, 1954, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The two eventually moved to Sioux City in 1972. Bob was a certified life insurance underwriter. He was the owner of Total Insurance for 20 years before retiring in 1997.
Bob was a member of the Optimist Club in Sioux City, worked with the Salvation Army, coached seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball, was a basketball coach at the Boys Club in Sioux City, and also a member of the Gay 50's Dance Club in Council Bluffs. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, softball, and spending time with family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Doris of Sioux City; children, Lee of Sioux City, Lisa (Dennis) Johnson of Lutz, Fla., Lori (Ed) Boettcher of Morris, Minn., Lance (Janet) of Columbia, Mo., and Lary (Jeff) Leu of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Dorothy of Gretna, Neb., Joan of Alamo, Texas, Karen of Council Bluffs, Ed of Mondamin, Iowa, Donna of Hartley, Iowa, and Don of Treynor, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bud; and granddaughter, Brielle.
