Robert William Kummer, 86, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Correctionville, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be noon Friday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
Robert was born Aug. 31, 1928, in Long Pine, Neb., to John and Katherine (Kackmeister) Kummer. He graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City. Robert served as a pilot in the Air Force.
He married Doris Carlson in 1973 at the Little Brown Church in Iowa.
Robert had a farm in Iowa for many years.
He was a member of the Blinded Veterans Association and the American Legion.
He enjoyed square dancing and traveling, and spending his winters in Florida and Arizona.
Survivors include his wife, Doris of Omaha; children, David (Sharon) Kummer of Gilson, Ill., and Sherrie Kummer of Missouri; stepdaughter, Marvel (Dave) Anderson of Clarksville, Ark.; sisters, Edith Rankin of Waco, Texas, Bonnie (Bud) Satter of Holstein, Iowa, and Virginia Kennedy of Salt Lake City, Utah; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Bruce Anderson; two brothers; and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blinded Veterans Association.
