Robert Meyer

Robert P. Meyer, 76, of Sioux City passed away, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Unity Point Health St. Luke's.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8 at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Soldier Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery at Charter Oak, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy Smith Funeral Home.
Robert was born on Dec. 26, 1936 to Otto and Elsie (Garbe) Meyer.
He was united in marriage to Phyllis Spiegel on Sept. 11, 1957 in Denison, Iowa. Robert worked as a line crew foreman for Denison Municipal Utilities and later for MidAmerican Energy. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Robert was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. In his younger years he pitched for many fast pitch softball teams, he was an avid Morningside basketball and softball fan. Robert enjoyed coffee with friends, spending time at his lake home in Okoboji, and his dog, Sassy.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Phyllis of 55 years; daughters, Pati Meyer and Suzanne (Michael) Loghry, all of Sioux City; stepgrandson, Braeden Loghry; and niece, Tara (Wayne) VanderWeil.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathy; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Corinne Meyer; and parents-in-law, William and Viola Spiegel.
Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
