Robert Narcisse Trudeau, 88 of North Sioux City, SD, formally of Jefferson, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014, at Holy Spirit retirement home in Sioux City, Iowa. A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 19, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Church in Jefferson, SD. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 PM at the church. Interment will be in St Peter Cemetery, Jefferson, SD. Berkemier Chapel, Christy Smith Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Robert was born on June 26, 1926 in Jefferson, South Dakota, he was the son of the late Richard and Rose (St. Onge) Trudeau. He graduated from Jefferson High School and entered into the United States Army, where he also served in the Air Force. He was united in marriage to Gloria Jean Clark on October 18, 1949 in Jefferson. Robert worked for over 33 years at Swift Packing Plant also while farming before retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the North Sioux City VFW, and a senior vice commander for the American Legion. Robert had many hobbies, some of which included being a rabbit judge at the county fair, gardening, golfing, and wood carving. He enjoyed attending Dakota Valley School sporting events, whether it was football, basketball, volleyball, or baseball he was there supporting the school. Robert had a great sense of humor and was always joking around with friends and family.
Those left to honor his memory include his sons; Tom Trudeau, Greeley, CO, Wayne (Lesa)Trudeau of Sioux City, IA, daughter, Carol Felt of Sioux City, IA; 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Elaine Trudeau, Dakota Dunes; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased in death by his parents, wife Jean, sister, Alice Schultz, brother, Cedric Trudeau, half-brother, Armand Allard, and son, Robin Trudeau.
