SIOUX CITY -- Roberta Adella Wilde, 86, of Sioux City died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mark Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Cox will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Roberta was born on Aug. 18,1925, in Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Mildred Yapp. She attended school in Cushing, Iowa, and Sioux City.
On Feb. 14, 1942, she married Martin Wilde in South Sioux City. The couple lived most of their married life in Sioux City. Roberta worked for Wincharger Corp. and was the assistant post master in Cushing. She and Martin wintered for 12 years in Texas. Martin died in July 1997 in Sioux City
She was a charter member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and was very active with the church. She especially enjoyed going to Bible study. Roberta was a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Cushing and she participated in CROP walk and making candy apples for the Humane Society. She was an avid golfer and played in the league at Floyd Golf Course. She made her first hole-in-one at the age of 70 and had two more after that. Roberta loved to read, did ceramics and enjoyed traveling.
Roberta is survived by her children, Rhonda and Frank Ostrihonsky, Michael and Sandra Wilde, Lon and Sharon Wilde, Kathy and Don Kirchner, all of Sioux City; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her companion, Gordon Mickelson; two brothers; and two sisters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a great-grandson, Chance Ostrihonsky; and two sisters.
