Rodney L. Lewison, 73, of Sioux City died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at Sunrise Retirement Community in Sioux City.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Rodney was born on April 30, 1942, in Elk Point, S.D., the son of Reynold and Gladys (Noggle) Lewison. As a young child, he moved with his family to Sioux City where he attended public school.
Rodney married Judy Groves on July 29, 1962. They made their home in Sioux City. Rodney joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and served in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1968. Over the years, Rodney worked at Flasco Manufacturing, Wilson Trailer and for more than 26 years as a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.
He was very active with his family, coaching his daughter's softball team and going to his children's sports activities. In more recent years, he really enjoyed traveling the Midwest to his grandchildren's sports activities. Rodney was a handy man who liked to do remodeling projects and working with his electronics. He was also a Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Lewison of Sioux City; daughter, Melanie (Rodger) LeFebvre of Sioux City; a son, Ronald Lewison of Sioux City; and four grandchildren, Levi Lee Lewison, Chase Lee Lewison, Chloe Ann Lewison and Bella LeAnn Lewison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three children in infancy, Jeffrey, Clifford and Linda; and 2 brothers
