Roger L. Bobolz

Roger Lee Bobolz, 59, of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, in Spencer, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 4327 Morningside Ave., in Sioux City, with the Rev. David Koehler officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Roger was born on Dec. 31, 1957, in Hartley, Iowa, to Curt and Mary Ann (Petersen) Bobolz. He graduated Hartley High School in 1976 and from Morningside College in Sioux City in 1980.
Roger was united in marriage to Roxanne Losing on July 5, 1984 in Golden, Colo. Throughout his career, Roger held various positions at First National Bank in Sioux City from 1980 to 1984, Security State Bank in Sheldon, Iowa from 1984 to 1985, and Hawkeye Bank and Trust later becoming Morningside Bank and Trust in Sioux City from 1985 to 2004, where he was vice president. In 2004, he moved to Pioneer Bank of Sioux City and Sergeant Bluff serving as senior vice president.
Roger was a member of Faith United Presbyterian Church. He was a supporter of the M Club of Morningside College, Morningside College athletics and loved to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a past member of the morning Cosmopolitan Club. Roger was an avid golfer who had four holes in one. He played golf at Southern Hills Country Club before it closed, Whispering Creek Golf Club, playing in the Tuesday night men's league and holiday scrambles for years, the Mid-American golf league at Green Valley and the many golf trips with friends to the Amana Colonies. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and playing basketball in the old man league in Sergeant Bluff on Wednesdays and Sundays. Roger always looked forward to his winter vacation with Roxanne to Arizona which allowed him to play golf in the winter months. He loved dogs, his dog, Izzi, held a special place in his heart. Everyone who knew Roger, knew he had a love/hate relationship with boating.
Roger enjoyed spending time with his family. They were a very important part of his life. He always talked about the kids and grandkids to his friends and golf buddies.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Roxanne of Sergeant Bluff; two sons, Cody (Jennifer) Bobolz of West Point, Neb., and Justin (Ashlee) Johnson of Kirkland, Wash.; four grandchildren, Kennedy, Hadley, Brooklyn, and Cameron; mother, Mary Ann Bobolz of Hartley; brother, David (Simone) Bobolz Greeley, Colo.; mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Myrna Losing of Huron, S.D.; and two brothers-in-law, Gaylan (Peggy) Losing of Alpena, S.D., and Scott (DeVonne) Losing of Alpena.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Curt Bobolz.
Memorials can be made to the Siouxland Humane Society or Morningside College Foundation.
