Roger W. Harder, 77, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at his residence in Sioux City, IA.
A visitation will be 8:30 am to 10:30 am Monday, February 12, 2018, at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, Morningside, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am.
Roger William Harder, the son of William and Evelyn (Webb) Harder was born April 3, 1940, in Sioux City, IA. He graduated from East High School. Roger moved to Michigan, where he was employed in a siding business with his relatives.
On September 21, 1962, Roger was united in marriage with Vivian Keith in Brohman, MI. The couple eventually moved back to Sioux City, where he worked for Gerkin Windows and Doors and the Sioux City Fire Department. Roger later started his own siding and patio cover business. He then became a carpenter for the Sioux City School System until his retirement. Vivian died January 13, 2018.
Roger loved camping, which the couple did just about every weekend.
Roger is survived by his sons, Justin (Geri Beth) of Plano, TX and Dan (Carol) of Sioux City; grandchildren, Justus, William, and Sam; brothers-in-law, LaDon Grotjohn of Schaller, IA and James Hodson of Hastings, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian; and two sisters, Marilyn Hodson and Linda Grotjohn.
