Roger A. Mastne, 59, of Sioux City, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 5 to 7p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes in Sioux City.
Roger Allen Mastne, the son of Harry and Mary (Lambrecht) Mastne, was born on Nov. 21, 1957, in Sioux City. He graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1976. Roger went on to serve in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.
On Aug. 14, 1982, Roger was united in marriage with Michelle Jauron at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. He was employed at Postal Finance before going to work for I.B.P., operating a printing press. Roger stayed at I.B.P. for more than 20 years, before retiring in late 2007 due to health issues. He was very proud of the fact he could walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding in 2007.
Roger enjoyed cooking and camping. He also like to fix things around their home and attend flea markets.
Roger is survived by his wife, Michelle of Sioux City; daughter, Stephanie (Luke) Casotti of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Sophia and Benny; his mother, Mary Mastne of Crestview, Fla.; four brothers, Ronnie, Edward, Harry James, and Robert Mastne; his mother-in-law, Virginia Jauron; sisters-in-law, Mary (Ed) Oakley and Madonna (Rod) Kass; brother-in-law, Kevin (Theresa) Jauron; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; father-in-law, Raymond Jauron; and sister-in-law, Carol Mastne.
