Sioux City - Roger E. Rasmussen, 57, of Des Moines, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2012, at a Des Moines hospital.

Roger was born on July 28, 1954, in Sioux City, to Everett and Doris (Short) Rasmussen. He graduated from Morningside College with a teaching degree and began teaching in Walthill, Neb. Roger then moved to Ventura, Iowa, to teach. He finished his career as a professor's assistant at Drake University.
He enjoyed reading, teaching and tutoring calculus and chemistry.
Survivors include his father, Everett Rasmussen; a son, James Rasmussen; a sister, Barb and Jeff Peterson; a brother, David Rasmussen; nephews, Shawn and Justin Peterson; and his ex-wife, Mary Cavender Rasmussen.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Rasmussen.
