Ronald "Ron" Kaufmann, 59, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
Ron was born on July 30, 1953 in Lancaster, Wis., to Glen and Elma (Ames) Kaufmann. He was united in marriage to Fran Brewer on July 19, 2003, in Sioux City.
Ron served 25 years in the U.S. Navy. He most recently was employed at the American Best Value Inn as their maintenance technician.
Ron enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and he had a passion for cooking. Ron loved to spend time in his yard enjoying the flowers and his dog, Buffy.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Fran; stepchildren, Janice (James) Bates, Gordon DeMoss, George (Ashley) DeMoss and Richard Brewer; brothers and sisters, Louise (Gene) Wilson, Francene (Mike) Delier, Bob (Marilyn) Kaufmann and Cindy (John) Zeman; many grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Kaufmann, Roland and Elma Foster.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
