SIOUX CITY -- Ronald "Ron" Moser, 70, of Sioux City died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Vit, chaplain of the 185th Air refueling Wing, officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the 185th Air Refueling Wing. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ronald Dean Moser was born Dec. 27, 1939, to Cyril and Dorothy (Clarance) Moser, in Bloomfield, Neb. He attended and graduated from Bloomfield High School with the class of 1958.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from March 1960 to March 1966. He joined the Air National Guard in January 1968, and worked there as an air tech until his retirement. While there, he reached the rank of senior master sergeant. Other than the time he spent in the U.S. Air Force, he had lived his entire life in the Siouxland area. He also was a charter pilot for Airways, now JetSun.
He was a member of Dakota County Historical Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Retired Air Technicians of the 185th (RATS). He also worked on setting up the camps used for RAGBRAI.
He is survived by his former wife, Fumiko Moser of Sioux City; a special friend, Beulah Boe-Thompson of Sioux City; daughters, Kate and her husband, Joe Albrecht of Sioux City and Michelle Moser of Sioux City; a sister, JoAnne and her husband, Bob Abbenhaus of Sioux City; grandchildren, Lauren, Joe and Chloe Albrecht of Sioux City; two nieces; and a nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
