Ronald P. Schmidt
Ronald P. “Ron” Schmidt, 42, of Sioux City died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following an aneurysm.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Daniel C. Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the 185th Air Refueling Wing. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Ron was born May 9, 1965, in Sioux City. He graduated from East High School in 1984. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident. He served with the 185th Iowa Air National Guard.
He married Jennifer M. Kamm on April 30, 1988, in Sioux City. He was a certified automotive master technician, employed with Tires, Tires, Tires repair company from 1998 until his passing. Prior to that, he worked for Certified Auto Repair Company.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed camping, fishing and restoring cars. He was a fan of NASCAR and a supporter of Dale Earnhardt Jr. He enjoyed the NFL, especially the Denver Broncos. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandson, Matthew.
Survivors include his wife, Jennifer M. Schmidt of Sioux City; his parents, Richard G. and Noreen J. (Rohmiller) Schmidt of Sioux City; his children, Nick Kamm, Sarah Schmidt and her fiance, Russ Sands, Jessica “Barty” Schmidt, Christopher Schmidt and Kayla Schmidt, all of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Matthew Allen Sands and Maxwell Patrick Sands; a brother and his wife, Rick and Kathy Schmidt of Bronson, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Kristi and David Thompson of Sioux City and Missy and Don Langseth of Omaha; his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Peg Kamm of Sergeant Bluff; his grandmother-in-law, Loretta Lynott of Sioux City; and numerous extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edmond and Helen Schmidt; and his maternal grandparents, Fred and Helen Rohmiller.
Pallbearers will be Michael Kamm, Vince Kamm, Eric Mossberg, Matt Foreman, Gary Brown and Loren “Ernie” Roepke.
