Rosalie F. Richardson, 83, of Sioux City, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, after a long illness at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Augustana Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Rosalie Faye Richardson, the daughter of Henry and Helen (Paul) Johnson, was born on Jan. 28, 1934, in Albert City, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Albert City in 1952 and went on to attend Fort Dodge Beauty Academy for the next year.
On Oct. 25, 1964, Rosalie was united in marriage to Harold J. Richardson in Hornick, Iowa. She worked for 16 years at the Younker’s Hair Salon, retiring in 1966 to raise her family. Harold died in December 1998.
Rosalie was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and attended Bible Study. She volunteered for the Peace Corps Serving group and at the Soup Kitchen. Rosalie was also the Good Cheer chairwoman and a member of VASA. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.
Rosalie is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Mike Wilen) Richardson of Sioux City, and Amy (John) Meier of Overland Park, Kan.; a sister, Carolyn Johnson of Sioux City; two nephews, David and Kevin Smith; one niece, Sheila O'Connell; and close friend, Jean Midland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; son, Daniel; brother, Paul Johnson; two sisters, Neva Elsasser and Mavis Smith; and nephew, Mark Elsasser.
