Rose Ann Kelley-Peterson, 71, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015, at her home.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Rose was born on Aug. 17, 1943, in Coronado Island, Calif., to Russell and Rose (Casper) Kelley. She graduated from Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, Iowa, and received her master's from Emporia State in Kansas.
She was united in marriage to Aaron Peterson on June 28, 1964, in Camp Pendleton, Calif. They resided in Storm Lake until moving to Sioux City in 1998. Rose started her career as a teacher in Alta, Iowa. She then became the library director of the Storm Lake Public Library.
Rose enjoyed traveling, especially to Colorado. She was an accomplished watercolor artist, winning several awards. She was also a member of Iowa Watercolor Society. In the last 15 years, Rose had a passion for raising and showing miniature horses. Rose loved spending time with her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Aaron of Sioux City; daughter, April (Kevin) Dwyer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Scott (Mindy) Peterson of Sioux City; granddaughter, Sierra (Alec) Kestel of Cedar Rapids; brother, Guy Kelley; and sister, Kathleen Kelley.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
