Sioux City - Rose Marie Elgert-Wilke, 57, of Sioux City passed away March 10, 2013 at a local hospital following a short-term illness with cancer.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy–Smith Funeral Homes, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home.
Rose was born on Aug. 14, 1955, in Sioux City, to Wilbur and Leona (McCellelan) Heller. She grew up and attended Central High School, Hinton High School and West High School, where she graduated in 1973. She had been a life long resident of the Sioux City area.
Rose was formerly employed with the Kids Care Child Care in Sergeant Bluff and most recently at Mary Elizabeth Child Care in Sioux City.
She was of the Methodist faith. Rose enjoyed shopping, being a grandma, going to concerts, attending poker runs, and gatherings with friends and family members.
Survivors include her husband, Stan Wilke of Sioux City; three children, Jennifer and Ernie Casey of Sioux City, Ashley Yanacheak of Sioux City, and Daniel Yanacheak of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Angela Davis, Lisa Davis, Jasper Casey, Jaeydon Casey, and Keleigh Yanacheak; a brother, Steve and Melanie Heller of Spokane, Wash.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
