BRONSON, Iowa -- Rose M. Pearson, 89, of Bronson passed away peacefully Monday, March 12, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Dan Guenther officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m., family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Rose was born June 30, 1922, in Salix, Iowa, to Alfred and Bernadette (Du Fault) Bertrand. She grew up in Salix, where she met and married the love of her life, Elmer Pearson. They had six children. They spent the first years of their life together in the Salix and Sergeant Bluff area before moving to Bronson.
Rose was an avid bird watcher, especially cardinals and doves. She loved the outdoors, especially yard work. As her grandchildren grew, she enjoyed attending their numerous activities.
Rose was a member of her church guild and enjoyed being chairwoman. She enjoyed being with her church friends, making food and crafts for many church bazaars. She will be remembered lovingly for the many quilts her hands stitched and tied.
Survivors include her six children, Patty (Larry) Smith, Lou (Petey), Mike (Karen), Dave, Becky Pearson and Julie (Randy) Benson; her siblings, Theresa (Bob) Christiansen, Maria Layna (Paul) Cuce, Millie (Jim) O'Mara and Merrill Bertrand; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a great-grandson to be born soon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents; six brothers; four sisters; and 3 grandsons, Todd in infancy, Randy Smith, and Tony Smith.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
