SIOUX CITY -- Rose Catherine Rodecker, 92, of Sioux City joined her husband in eternal peace early Monday, April 30, 2012, at a Sioux City hospital very unexpectedly.
A celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church, 1000 Douglas St., in Sioux City, with the Rev. Lingle officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Rosie was born to Anna (Perch) and Anthony Mozak on April 10, 1920, in Sioux City.
She married Robert E. Rodecker on July 10, 1943, in South Sioux City.
Rosie enjoyed her youth even up to her very last night. She enjoyed playing solitaire and card games, gardening, and cooking, especially her famous pirogues. She enjoyed crocheting, pampering her puppies, and keeping up with the young ones. Rosie was proud of her Polish heritage and enjoyed polka music. Her vibrant personality and quick wit will be forever missed.
Survivors include her two sons and their wives, Robert and Vina of Sioux City, and Richard and Lillian of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Susan Rodecker of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Alexa Sorensen, who resided with her, Ryan Rodecker of Starkville, Miss., Troy Rodecker of Sioux City, Travis Rodecker of Omaha, Tanya and her husband, Sam Wendt of Kansas City, and Shane and Shaun Rodecker of Atlanta; several nieces and nephews; and three great-grandchildren, Cody and Tanner Rodecker and Taylor Wendt.
Rosie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years; her parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
