Ross Henry Potter Jr., 61, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with Pastor Roger Madden of First United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Ross was born April 11, 1946, in Sioux City, to Ross and Rosie (Hair) Potter Sr. He grew up and attended Grant Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High and Central High School, all in Sioux City.
He married his lifelong partner, Linda L. Cook on July 25, 1965, in Dakota City. Ross was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He was employed with the U.S. Army and Tyson, formerly known as I.B.P., in Dakota City. He was in various departments over his years of service.
He was a former member of Glendale Baptist Church and was currently a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Ross enjoyed his time at J&J Coins, researching his life passion of coins. In addition, Ross enjoyed camping and fishing at Little Sioux Park in Correctionville, Iowa, and especially spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Linda of Sioux City; his mother, Rosie Potter; a brother, Robert "Bob" of Missouri; five children, Charlotte Doyle, Ross H. Potter III, Cheyenne Pedroza, Patricia Potter and Thomas Potter, all of Sioux City; grandchildren, Angel, Tracy, Kayla, Ashley, Samantha, Kasaundra, Allicen, Molly, Ellaina, Elexis, Seth, Kora, Trinity and Liviya; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; a grandchild, Ebonie; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
He was deeply loved and admired by his family and friends. We all miss and love you, Dad.
