Roxann H. (Swanson) Johns, 64, of Sioux City passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at home following a lengthy illness.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Roxann was born on June 2, 1950, in Decatur Neb., to Jacqueline (Sparks) and Harold Swanson Jr. She graduated from high school in 1968.
Roxann married in 1976 and had two daughters whom she raised on the farm outside Sioux City. She enjoyed raising chickens and other farm animals. She also worked many years at Theo's Steakhouse before retiring.
Roxann enjoyed being with family, cooking, gardening, and playing cards. Her greatest source of pride were her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Heather Johns (Chris Svoboda) of Sergeant Bluff, and Jacque Johns of Bremerton, Wash.; grandchildren, Tamera Johns, and Carter and Breanna Svoboda; sisters, Candace (Dick) Foley, Robin (Bob) Puterbaugh, and Bobbi Jo (Donovan) Boger; brothers, Calvin (Marie) Swanson, Ronnie (Michelle) Willer, and Harold (Sharon) Swanson III; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and Frankie Amick.
