Ruby M. Ehlers, 92, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at her residence.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ruby was born on May 18, 1924, to Nels and Johanna (Swedlund) Olson. She grew up in the South Bottoms and attended Hobson School, Woodrow Wilson, and Central High.
She married Robert Ehlers on Dec. 10, 1945, in Onawa Iowa.
She enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing cards, gambling, camping, taking care of her flowers and visiting with family and friends. The family would like to especially thank Jessie Ehlers for her wonderful care so Ruby could stay at home.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon LaFleur of Sioux City; sons, Ron (Diane) Ehlers of Sioux City, and Mike (Judy) Ehlers of Tripp, S.D.; 19 grandchildren; numerous great, and great-great-grandchildren; Daughter-in-law Pauline Ehlers of Dakota City, Neb.; 2 brothers, Ernie (Glenda) Olson of Sioux City, IA, Victor Switzer of Berea, KY; 2 sister, Idabell Thompson of Cherokee, IA, Grace Willliams of Sioux City, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Robert, Larry, and Gary Ehlers; granddaughters, Lisa Marie, and Betty Ann; daughter-in-law, Margie Ehlers; son-in-law, Howard LaFleur; three brothers, Albert Kjose, and Roy and Elmer Olson; and two sisters, Hazel Eastman and Delores Zant.
