Ruth A. Boysen, 80, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Sunrise Manor.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday in St. John’s Cemetery at Galva, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made to

Ruth was born on Sept. 24, 1933, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Arnold and Anna (Rusch) Neimeier. She graduated from Ida Grove High School and then The Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. Ruth was employed at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s as a registered nurse for 32 years before she retired in 1993.
She was united in marriage to Vertis Boysen on Oct. 12, 1957. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage. They made their home in Sioux City.
Ruth was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She enjoyed raising plants, flowers, and loved to cook and bake for her grandchildren. Ruth enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Vertis, of Sioux City; children, Sherree (Paul) Koch of Davenport, Iowa, Rick (Lauri) Boysen of Ringsted, Iowa; six grandchildren, Melinda (Ethan) Kerns, Andrew (Jessie) Koch, Kristin (Nick) Hansen, Ashley Boysen, Adam Boysen and Aaron (Ashley) Boysen; six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Caroline Niemeier of Galva, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Arnold Jr., Gerhardt, Lester and Carl; and a sister, Leona Matthew.
