SIOUX CITY -- Ruth Mae Miller, 91, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill G. Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 until service time Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com .
Ruth was born Nov. 9, 1918, in Meadow, S.D., the daughter of George and Hattie (Gillpatrick) Foster. She moved as a young girl to California and later to the Sioux City area, where she graduated from high school. She continued her education at South Dakota State University in Brookings.
She married Willard E. Miller on Oct. 18, 1946, in California. They made their home in Sioux City. The couple owned and operated Bill's Tap on Court Street until their retirement some 20 years later. She had also worked as a beautician.
She was a past member of Westlawn Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Shrine Kan Duettes. She enjoyed visiting, reading and had donated every year to Bob's Watering Hole poker run.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Rebecca Hogan of Sioux City; two great-grandsons, Tyler Miller and Zackery Baker, both of Sioux City; two great-granddaughters, Shaylee Baker and Brook Baker, both of Sioux City; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Hattie Foster; a son, Tim Miller; and five brothers and sisters.
