Ruth Carlson, 89, of Los Alamitos, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Friday, July 13, 2007, at a care facility in Los Alamitos after a three-year illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Ruth was born June 22, 1918, in Onawa, Iowa. She attended Sloan High School, graduating in 1925.
On June 22, 1940, she married Alfred Carlson. He preceded her in death in May 1957.
She lived in Sioux City until 1964 when she moved to Bell, Calif. She was employed with Sioux City Dressed Beef until she moved to California, and then she was employed with National Car Rental until her retirement.
Ruth was a member of Eastern Star and Cerritos Friends Church in Cerritos, Calif. She was also a member of several Bible study groups.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Ann and Robert Wisner of Boone, Iowa; two grandchildren and their spouses, Lori and John Schindler of San Diego, Calif., and Duane and Jessica Erickson of Chicago, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Lilyan and Grant Schindler of San Diego and Carter Erickson of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a daughter, Jane Marie Carlson.
