Sioux City - Ruth Servine, formerly of Sioux City, died Oct. 6, 2012, at Providence St. Joseph Care Center in Spokane, Wash.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Ruth Servine was born on Feb. 27, 1918, to Robert and Ruth Kreitzinger, in Yankton, S.D. She graduated from East High School in 1936.
She married Howard Servine on Jan. 1, 1942, at First Lutheran Church in South Sioux City. Howard died on Oct. 21, 1995. She was employed with Iowa Public Service until her retirement in 1980. She moved to Spokane in 2000 following an illness.
Ruth was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and a member of Dorcas Circle and Women of the Church. She was also an active member of the Sioux City Women's Club, Quota Club, Iota Delphian Study Club and Gamma Phi Gamma Sorority. Ruth volunteered for 20 years at St. Luke Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include a son, Kib (Pattie) Servine; a daughter, Mary (Norm) Boehnke; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, all of Spokane.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard "Swede"; a son, Robert Charles; brothers, Chris, Mark, and Jim; and a sister, Norberta.
