Dakota City - Ryan J. Rowe, 26, of Dakota City passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 17, 2012, at his residence.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with Deacon Fred Karpuk officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Ryan was born on Nov. 22, 1985, in Sioux City, to Brad and Joan (Vondrak) Rowe. He graduated from South Sioux City High School in 2004. Following high school, he moved to Detroit Lake, Minn., where he worked for Blue Sky, a group home for disabled adults. Later, he moved to Omaha, where he attended Metro Community College. After graduation, he returned to Dakota City.
Ryan enjoyed any outdoor activity, especially hiking, hunting and fishing. He loved all animals and as a youth, the basement of his home was always full of reptiles. He adopted many strays. He especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog, Caine.
Survivors include his parents, Brad and Joan Rowe of Dakota City; a brother, Matthew Rowe and his fiancee, Cyndi and her three daughters of South Sioux City; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Irene (Sands) Vondrak of Hinton, Iowa; paternal grandparents, Edward and Joanne (Grubel) Rowe of Sioux City; many aunts and uncles, Kevin and Jody Vondrak of Hinton, Denise and Scott Pfeifer of Omaha, Shelly and Kevin Huebner of Hinton, Mary and Lee Holder of Hinton, Elizabeth Vondrak of Garden City, KS, Daniel and Sherrie Rowe of Sioux City; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents and an uncle, Joseph "Mike" Vondrak.
