Sally Ann Harkins

South Sioux City, NE – Sally A. Harkins, 70, of Sioux City, died Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at a nursing home in South Sioux City, NE.

A memorial service will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., with visitation one hour prior. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.christysmith.com .

Sally Ann Arnold, the daughter of Chester and Veda (Weaver) Arnold was born August 27, 1952, in Sioux City. She graduated from Central High School and went on to attend Nettleton Business College.

On November 4, 1972, Sally was united in marriage with Robert Holcombe. The couple later separated.

On September 16, 1981, Sally was united in marriage with Robert Harkins. She worked as a bookkeeper in the corporate office of Sioux City Truck Sales from 1982 until 2010. Robert died September 27, 2000.

Sally was a former member of First Covenant Church, a Muscular Dystrophy support group, and briefly the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed doing water aerobics at the Four Seasons.

Sally is survived by her brother-in-law, Lee Hansen of Lincoln, NE; two nephews, Daniel (Katie) Hansen and John (Casie) Hansen, both of Lincoln, NE; a niece, Deanna (Bill) Smyth of Omaha, Ne; several great-nephews and nieces; four step-daughters, Dana (Shawn) Rogers of Everton, MO, Cindy Manes of Springfield, MO, Robin (Scott) Simmons of Hollidaysburg, PA, and Debbie (Roger) Parmeter of Kirbyville, MO; several grandchildren; and a good friend, Eric (Angie) Heinemann and their son, Leiton, of Dakota City, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Myrta Hansen.
