SIOUX CITY -- Sandra Lee Murphy, 62, of Sioux City died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 2320 Outer Drive North.
Sandra was born Oct. 31, 1948, in Sioux City, to John and Isabelle (Boucher) Murphy. When she was a young child, the family moved to Pontiac, Mich., where she grew up and attended school. She later attended Nettleton Business School which led her to be a lifelong bookkeeper. Sandy worked for her brother at M.T. Can Company and later at Chesterman Bottling Company.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux City. Sandy enjoyed writing, research, kids and being involved in the Sioux City Marathon. She will always be remembered as a person who was a giver in life, which continued after her passing by being a donor through the Iowa Donor Network.
Survivors include her brothers, Kevin Murphy of Broomfield, Colo., and Dave and Katy Murphy of Sioux City; two nieces and one nephew, Amanda, Molly and John Murphy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
