Sandy was born in Sioux City, to Waidy and Lourice (Coury) Rehan, on Sept. 19, 1939. She attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School, and graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City, and Rosary College in Oak Park, Ill.. She taught school for one year in Oak Park before returning to Sioux City. She taught the sixth grade for her entire career at Sunnyside, Nodland and East Middle. During that time, she not only made math just a little bit more fun for her students, she also taught them kindness.
She had an incredible love for animals; both two and four-legged beings were always welcome in her home. She was a life-long Cubs fan.
Sandy is survived by her soulmate, Noreen Eskildsen; brothers, Bob (Mary) Rehan, and George (Cindy) Rehan; and her aunt, Alma Coury, AKA "Double AA." She will also be remembered by her nephew and nieces, Bob (Patty) Rehan, Ann (John) Rehan Goebel, Jane (Cory) Kruger, Susan (Ann) Fuller Rehan, and Sara (Jeremy) Uhl. Sandy was also blessed with many grandnieces and nephews; and loyal companion, Scamp.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Michelle Moser, dear friend of Sandy and Noreen. Thank you also for the loving care of Dr. Abu, the nurses, and the hospice workers on St. Luke's fourth floor.
