Sioux City - Sara Renea Nearman, 48, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
A celebration of her life will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 2320 Outer Drive North, in Sioux City, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. The visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Sara Renea Morgan was born on Aug. 30, 1964, in Pender, Neb. She grew up in the Riverland Estates area, where she attended McCook School, Jefferson High School, and graduated from West High.
Sara was united in marriage to Rick Nearman on Aug. 9, 1985. They made their home and raised their children in Sioux City. She worked in the office of Charley Miller Body Shop until its closing. She later worked in the parts department of Knoepfler Chevrolet, where she had been for the last seven years.
Sara took pleasure in watching her three children excel in sports as they were growing up. She also enjoyed boating in the summer with family and friends, and socializing with her co-workers. She had a love for going to country music concerts with her daughter, and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball teams.
Sara is survived by her husband of 27 years, Rick Nearman; three children, Ricky of Santa Fe, N.M., and Andy and Tina of Sioux City; her father, Richard Morgan and his companion, Carole Broyhill of Sioux City; brother, Mike Morgan of Fresno, Calif.; in-laws, Earl and Lonnie Feauto of Kerrville, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marc and Heather Nearman of North Sioux City, and Dean and Amy Harden of San Antonio, Texas; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, James and Elsie Eriksen, Joe and Alice Jackson, and James and Marge Morgan.
