Sarah M Storm

June 27, 1958 — September 15, 2023

Sarah Marie Storm, 65, of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Friday, September 15, 2023, at home surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sarah was born June 27, 1958, to Carl and Beverly (McWilliams) Larsen. Sarah lived in Sioux City her entire life. Sarah graduated from North High School in 1976, she later graduated from Morningside College non-traditionally.

Sarah married David Storm, June 21, 1980, and they were blessed with 43 beautiful years of marriage. During their 43 years together came Sarah’s greatest joys her 4 children, Mark, Leah, Andrew and Anna.

After having children, Sarah began her career in teaching which was one of her lifelong passions. Sarah started her teaching career at the Boys & Girls Home in South Sioux City, NE and shortly after went to Walthill, NE. Sarah ended her career retiring from North High in Sioux City, IA after 17 years. Sarah’s goal was to ensure that every student had a place and knew they were seen and valued. She loved being an advocate for the unheard. Sarah not only saw but truly believed in the potential of each of her students and peers. Sarah impacted over 5000 students in her career and was known for being passionate, having a colorful vocabulary, loving coffee and making sure her students were always fed.

Sarah had many titles throughout her life, her favorite being “Grandma Sarah” to her 8 grandchildren. Sarah thrived in a chaotic house full of family and loved every chance the family could get together. She loved attending all of the grandchildren’s events and Grandma Sarah was each of their biggest fans.

Some of Sarah’s favorite things were cups of coffee, phone calls with loved ones, shopping trips, games on her phone, and sitting on her patio. Sarah’s life was cut short by cancer, but she was a bright light who will continue to shine forever.
