Sioux City - Scott Jay Bradshaw, 58, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital from complications of a lengthy illness.
A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Visitation will resume 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Scott was born on June 5, 1955, to Mary Ann (Bortle) Bradshaw and Doug Bradshaw. He graduated from East High School in 1973, where he was a talented athlete. After high school, he attended USD and Morningside College. Scott enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps shortly after high school.
He married Connie Briley in 1975, and from this union they had two sons, Jeramiah and Brandon. Scott owned and operated his own roofing company for many years, and spent his final years working part-time at Sam’s Club. Scott retired in 2012, and was proud to help his son, Brandon, manage Pipe Dream Camping and Tubing.
Scott had a zest for life and his smile and personality could light up a room. Scott was known to play many practical jokes on his friends and family. He loved animals, and usually had a canine companion. Scott loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, and loved camping and fishing. Scott loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren’s dance and sports activities. He loved cooking and sharing his dishes with friends and family. Scott loved to host parties and other gatherings, and always made people feel welcome.
Scott is survived by his sister, Kathy Watterson of Sioux City; a son, Jeramiah and his wife, Holli and their children, Ella, Avery, Addison, and Isabel of Jefferson, S.D.; a son, Brandon and his wife, Sarah and their children, Leyton and Willow of Sioux City; and a niece, Shelby Harder and her husband, Curt, and daughter Abbigail of Westfield, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Mary Ann; and a sister, Brenda Andersen.
