SIOUX CITY -- Scott T. Etzen, 50, of Sioux City died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at his home in Sioux City, surrounded by his family and friends, following a 10-year illness with Huntington's Disease.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Larkin Northside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com .

Scott was born on June 25, 1958, in Forest City, Iowa, the son of Peter and Eunice (Wilson) Etzen. He graduated from Forest City Community High School in 1976. While in Forest City, he had worked with his aunt Shirley in the Bungalow Cafe. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, and graduated from Hamilton Business College in 1978 with a degree in administration. He then came to Sioux City and was employed as the manager for Long John Silver's Seafood Shoppes. He left Sioux City in 1985, and moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where he managed a Jack In The Box Restaurant and a Subway Sandwich Shop. He then moved to Minneapolis, Minn., in 1997, before returning to Sioux City in 1999.

He was a Methodist. Scotty loved Christmas and birthdays. He also enjoyed bowling. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed eating, especially chocolate and anything with strawberries in it. He enjoyed listening to music and dancing. He had a great sense of humor and was a loyal friend. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan as well as a fan of Iowa State University sports and the Phoenix Suns Basketball team.

Survivors include a sister and her husband, Linda and Joe LaGrasse of Garner, Iowa; two nieces and their husbands, Wendy and Paul Juntunen and Dawn and Brian Nenley; three nephews, Robin LaGrasse, Brad Saathoff and Bryan Saathoff; and his beloved friends and caretakers, Jim Calhoon, Jeannie Calhoon, Cathie Dennis, Jerry Marcoe, Susie Holmes and Jim Mofit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sandra Saathoff.

Pallbearers will be Brian Nenley, Joe LaGrasse, Paul Juntunen, Jerry Marcoe, Kevin Engling and Robin LaGrasse.

The family wishes to thank nurses, Gwen, Shirley and Farrah, bath aids, Linda and Linda K., Hospice nurse, Sandy, nurses aides, Deb, Rita, Joyce and Sheila; and the two male volunteers.
