Scotty G. Pojar, 63, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at his residence after a long, courageous battle with MS.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Scotty was born on July 26, 1951, in Sioux City, to Virgil and Bonnie (Cornwall) Pojar. He graduated from East High School in 1969. Scotty served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1973 and was a Vietnam veteran with honors.
He was united in marriage to Ardis Whitney on July 26, 1975, in Sioux City. To this union they had three children. He worked as a conductor for BN railroad for 32 years.
Scotty was a wonderful man, husband, father, brother, and grandpapa. Scotty loved being an American and doing his duty no matter what. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, painting, and spending time with family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Ardis of Sioux City; children, Trever Pojar, Jordan (Shaina) Pojar, and Ivy (TJ) Sullivan; grandchildren, Ireland and Abbigale; brothers, Randy (Roxanne), Greg, Jeff (Tammy), and Dan (Donna) Pojar; sister, Tammy (Steve) Langel; other relatives, Ronald (Jeri) Whitney, Tom Whitney, Melodie De Boer, Laurel McFarland and families; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Larry Hallstrom; and sister-in-law, Diane Pojar.
After a 26-year struggle, you have gone to heaven and are peacefully at home, as a great soul.
