Shana Lee Schmidt

SERGEANT BLUFF -- Shana L. Schmidt, 31, of Sergeant Bluff passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at her residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with Pastor Johnny Helton of Morningside Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Shana was born April 7, 1977, to Ed and Robin (Phillips) Schmidt at Fort Riley, Kan. She graduated from Woodbury Central in Moville, Iowa, in 1997. As a child, she was an Army brat, born in Fort Riley, Kan., living in Germany, Colorado, back to Germany, moved to Sioux City in 1986 until 2000, when she moved to Pensacola, Fla., then to Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., in 2005, and returned to Sergeant Bluff in 2008. She was employed with Wal-Mart for several years in the photo department in Pensacola and Ft. Leonard Wood and also in the military clothing store in Ft. Leonard Wood.

She was a member of Pine Forest Assembly of God Church in Pensacola and currently attending Morningside Assembly of God Church. Shana's hobbies included scrapbooking, her pets and photography.

Survivors include her parents; a sister, Stephanie; a nephew, Mark; her grandparents, Ruth Phillips of Sioux City, Evelyn Allner of South Sioux City, and William "Bill" and Margaret Ridenour of Pensacola; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Wayne Phillips and Ed Schmidt; her uncle, Mark Phillips; and a niece, Faith Schmidt.
