Sharon Lynn Shoop, 70, of Sioux City died Thursday, March 6, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Larkin Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Sharon was born on April 15, 1937, in Elk Point, S.D., the daughter of Harold C. and Ardis (Bancroft) Hansen. She came to Sioux City as a child. She attended Central High School.
She married Wayne L. Shoop on Nov. 2, 1956 in Elk Point, S.D. He died on Aug. 4, 1997 in Sioux City. Sharon worked at Sioux City Tent and Awning and later for Mullin Manufacturing Co. She and her husband operated River City Upholstery.
She served as a senior companion and helped many people in time of illness and death. She was a Blue Angel, she loved to square dance and was an avid bowler. Sharon enjoyed going to rummages and going to the Boat and spending time in the outdoors. What she loved most was spending time with her dogs, her family and her friends.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Dona and Doug Dickson of Sioux City and Dustyne and Brad Merryman of Salix, Iowa; a son and his wife, Danny Ray and Phyllis Berg of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her significant other, Richard Coop; and three brothers, Jerry and Ann of Sioux City, Dave "Jim" and Teresa of Amarillo, Texas, and Dewey and Paulette of El Paso, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Patrick and Loren; a granddaughter, Aerial Lee; and a sister, Jeannie.
Pallbearers will be Gene Rask, Jason Berg, Jeremy Olson, Tim Wright, Roger Van Beek and Steve Allen. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Merryman.
