Sharron Kay Ryden passed away on February 1, 2025, at the age of 82, at the Regency Assisted Living in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Sharron was born on December 18, 1942, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, the daughter of Alvin C. and Vivian (Vaughn) Bennar.
She went to school in Sioux City, Iowa, and could be seen delivering the Sioux City Journal before attending classes every morning. Sharron married Ronald Ryden on January 8, 1966. They were married for 58 years. They moved their family to an acreage between Dakota City and Homer, Nebraska, in 1975, where they lived for 50 years. She worked as a bookkeeper at Temptrol and then at Metal Specialists in Sioux City until her retirement. She was known to ride her Suzuki 100 motorcycle the 15 miles back and forth to work come rain or shine. Sharron was an avid reader and also was good with the needle and did beautiful embroidery. She was known for her dry humor and laughter and made friends wherever she went. Her newest friends were her wonderful caregivers at the Regency Nursing Home and later all the people from Hospice, who were with her faithfully until the end.
Sharron is survived by her sons, Vaughn (Dawn) Ryden, Richard (Sandy) Ryden, Kevin (Kelley) Ryden, Todd (Alexa) Ryden; daughter, Elaine (Greg) Page; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, David (Karen) Bennar and Mike (Colleen) Vaughn; 1 sister, Darla (Jim) Rock; and 1 half-sister, LaDonna Cleveringa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron; and 2 brothers, Alvin Bennar and Lee Wendte.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:30 am at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel (1801 Morningside Ave.) with a visitation taking place one hour prior. Darla Rock will be officiating. Her final resting place will be Memorial Park Cemetery.
