Sioux City, IA – Sherry L. Loomis, 72, died Thursday, May 11, 2023, at her residence in Sioux City, IA.
A funeral service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in McCook Lake Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.christysmith.com .
Sherry Lynn Schmidt, the daughter of Lyle and Loretta (Worley) Schmidt was born July 24, 1950, in Sioux City. She received her education in Sioux City.
In 1972, Sherry was united in marriage with Harold Loomis. She was a homemaker, but also worked at various other places, including casinos and Dairy Queen. Harold died in 2000.
Sherry met Kenneth “Ken” Searls and the two became lifelong partners.
Sherry enjoyed watching birds, getting Mani-Pedis, playing bingo, and listening to country music.
Sherry is survived by her significant other, Ken of Sioux City; daughters, Patricia of Sioux City, Teresa Ferdig of Onawa, IA, Kathy Reyes of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Terry Schmidt of Sioux City; a half-sister, Shawn Jackson of North Sioux City, SD; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold.
