Shirley Mae Neustrom, 91, of Moville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Char-Mac assisted living in Lawton, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church in Moville, with the Rev. Brad Pelzel officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Arrangements are with McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Shirley was born Nov. 22, 1924, in a farmhouse in Moville to Bernard and Maude (Harms) Thomas. She graduated from Moville High School in 1943.
She married Robert V. Neustrom Sept. 1, 1945, in Moville. Robert and Shirley farmed in Moville Township until 1968 when they moved into Moville. Robert passed away Sept. 29, 1995.
Shirley was employed at several cafes in Moville, and at J.C. Penney's in Sioux City.
Shirley was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Moville. She was treasurer for Catholic Daughters for several years.
She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, reading, attending her sons' sporting events through the years, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her five sons, Robert (Jan) of Moville, Tim (Laura) of Sioux City, Terry of Sioux City, Kelly of Moville, and Kirk of Iowa City, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Emmy Neustrom of Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister-in-law, Marcella Thomas; niece, Tamara (Chuck) Hayes; nephew, Barry Thomas, all of Moville; 13 grandchildren, Amie Neustrom, Katie Stice, Mark (Bonny) Triplett, Michelle (Steve) Brown, Sheila (Rick) Volk, Traci Neustrom, Robert Neustrom, Timoni West, Anthony Neustrom, Sidney Valladolid, Sarah (Josh) Poggenpohl, Michael Neustrom and Ben Neustrom; eight great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ava and Lilly Volk, Camie and Alec Brown, and Laila, Alina and Melody Neustrom; and a great-great grandchild, Amora Mayo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas M. Neustrom; two brothers, Jack and Bob Thomas; brother and sister-in law, Dick and Pauline Dickman; brother-in-law, Gene Bridges; and daughter-in-law, Amy Neustrom.
