Shirley A. Roupe

Sioux City | Shirley A. Roupe, 86, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at a local nursing home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. Edward A. Ward officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Shirley was born on Nov. 10, 1926, in Sioux City, to Manfred and Christine (Dahlin) Max. She grew up and attended Sioux City schools. She later attended Central High School.
Shirley married Richard Roupe on Jan. 23, 1946, at First Lutheran Church in Sioux City. He passed away on July 28, 2004, in Sioux City. She had been a lifelong resident of Sioux City. Shirley used to give accordion lessons at her home and her father's music store. She also worked at St. Joseph Hospital for a short time. She was later a bookkeeper for Dr. Joe Krigstein and Dr. Milton Grossman for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of Riverside Lutheran Church and participated in the choir, quilting club and Ruth circle. She enjoyed camping, crossword puzzles, family gatherings, her grandchildren, music, and carnations. She had traveled to London and Sweden.
Survivors include her daughter, Sheryl Savary of Sioux City; two sons, Paul Roupe of Sioux City, and Bob and Karla Roupe of Crowley, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Elaine and Bob Miller of Sioux City; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; six great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and two sisters, Angela Bruce and Roberta and Gary Vanderlinden, all of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, David Roupe; her parents; two brothers, Manford Max, and Wayne Max; a son-in-law, Gary Savary; a brother-in-law, Harold Bruce; a sisters-in-law, Barbara Max and Connie Roupe; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Steeley.
