Shirley K. Tobias, 80, of Sioux City died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at her home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jill Clem officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today, with a time of sharing at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Shirley was born on Jan. 6, 1936, in Ponca, Neb., the daughter of Hulet and Lena (Baldwin) Smith. She was raised in the Allen, Neb., area, graduating from Allen High School in 1954.
Shirley married Duane Tobias on Nov. 2, 1957. They made their home in Sioux City. Shirley worked at East Middle School managing the lunch room for more than 33 years.
She was a member of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church and the Retired School Workers. Shirley loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed wildlife, especially bird watching.
She is survived by her husband, Duane Tobias of Sioux City; three children, Bruce Tobias (special friend, Brenda Packer) of Burnsville, Minn., Roxanne (Roger) Jansen of Lawton, Iowa, and Kathy (Jeff) Neumann of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Vada Barnes of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Memorials may be directed to Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church or Hospice of Siouxland.
